Currently, Trey is employed as a homeless housing coordinator at MHMR, the local government agency overseeing mental health services for Tarrant County. Trey Hunt's journey began in Southwest Fort Worth, where he entered the world to his young and determined mother. Life for Trey started in Section 8 housing, and the family relied on food stamps to make ends meet. Despite the challenges, Trey's mother, Alicia, instilled in him a deep appreciation for education and the belief that it held the key to a brighter future.
Trey's pursuit of higher education took a pivotal turn on the first day of his undergraduate classes, where fate introduced him to Celeste, who would later become his spouse. Destiny seemed to weave their paths together as they shared not only classes but also the profound journey of building a life together. Their bond grew stronger, and they welcomed their son, Xander, into the world at the beginning of the pandemic.
Life took an unexpected turn when Trey faced job loss from the University of North Texas where he had been employed. However, this setback provided him with a silver lining – the opportunity to spend more precious moments with Xander. This experience fueled Trey's passion for advocating for extended parental leave, recognizing the importance of fostering strong family bonds during pivotal times.
During his undergraduate studies, Trey emerged as a leader, not only academically but also in his commitment to serving others. He took charge of a student organization dedicated to assisting the homeless population, showcasing his compassion and dedication to making a positive impact in his community.
Driven by his experiences and a desire to create lasting change, Trey has carved out a career focused on working with the homeless population. His commitment extends beyond direct service, as he is currently in the process of publishing journal articles that shed light on the struggles faced by this vulnerable community and propose innovative solutions to address their needs.
